Palm oil, Fairtrade meal and Cajamarca Ceilidh

Yesterday was the start of Fairtrade Fortnight and thanks to all the folks who came to our Fairtrade meal which raised £196.69 for Traidcraft Exchange (the charity which supports the work of Traidcraft). If you are interested to find out more about the ongoing debate about the problems associated with the palm oil trade you might like to dip into this website .

Our thoughts are now focussed on the Cajamarca Ceilidh this coming Saturday at Strode Crescent Baptist Church. Do come along and enjoy a bit of barn dancing and singing (not forgetting your generous contribution to the Cajamarca Connection!). The ceilidh starts at 6pm and finishes at 9pm so that it’s not too late for families.

For anyone who has managed to avoid hearing about the Cajamarca Connection, it is a project being organised by the Sheppey Poverty/Justice Group, a Churches Together in Sheppey initiative to raise £1000 by the end of 2014 for the Tearfund development project in Cajamarca, Peru.
